Penguin filter question

On my marine land filter I am unsure what way the filter pad (blue pad) is supposed to face does it even matter?

I believe the blue part faces away from the front of the filter. I had mine in backwards for a long time before I noticed it in the directions for a refill pack. Just be sure to rinse them out really good before you install them.

The water needs to hit the blue part first. So it should be facing away from you

Plastic part toward outflow, mesh in toward box, at least with mine...
