pictus catfish fighting

so about a week ago i got a 3 1/2" pictus catfish and put him in my 55 gallon tank then yesterday i got another one at 4 1/2" and put it in with the other one and it looked like they were fighting then i looked it up and it said that they were playing but today the 3 1/2" one`s dorsal fin is complerely shredded up what do you think is the cause?

They have to assert their dominance. Ours went through that even though they came out of the same tank at the same time. After about a week they calmed down. Just make sure your water is clean and add some stress coat.

Welcome to AA! Moving the thread to general fish forum.

It is normal for pictus to be slightly aggressive. Make sure there are plenty of places for territories and for them to hide and keep an eye out for any fin rot as a result of injuries. Test your water and make sure there is no ammonia or nitrite.
