They are, they also require a cool, fast flowing, well oxygenated tank,.similar to a loach..

I've had my pair of pandas for a couple years now. They aren't as sensitive as hillstream loaches. They are in fact some of the hardiest fish I've ever had. My tank is tropical with low water flow and they are just fine!

My tank is 78* and low/medium movement. My Hillstream loaches (butterfly loach) lived 3 weeks? Maybe
I don't think they ate enough ...

I think most of the loaches are sensitive.... They are used to,well, streams ! Cool water, fast movement
