Okay, so I've heard many people say to keep your nitrates at different levels, for one reason or another I've setteled with 20ppm, my tank is 20gal, planted(I guess you could call it moderatly planted). What's yalls opinions on the matter? Or what do y'all keep your tanks at and why?

Thanks!

I keep all my tanks under 20ppm due to the majority of the fish I own are prone to a specific illness when kept at higher levels. But for the majority of other fish 40ppm is perfectly fine.

Lower the better, some fish are more susceptible to nitrates than others, but a frequent water change schedule (with nitrate free tap water) doesn't really make nitrate levels that imperative. I don't even test nitrates in my tanks with the exception of those that I'm dosing KNO3 into.
