Purple Sand

I am looking to buy purple sand, is for my girlfriend's new 29 gallon. we only had 15 pounds of purple gravel from her 10 gallon, so we need an additional 15 pounds or so. She likes the look of my black gravel with black sand, and would like to do the same with her tank....

So...anyone know where I can find a freshwater aquarium safe purple sand?

The walmart I sometimes go to carries a purple play box sand along with a blue but as far as being aquarium safe I dont know. Some one else may have a line on purple sand from an actual pet store place. HTH

the walmart stuff should work since its made to take on weatehr and what not

when you soak it see if your water turns purple.

Another issue is the playsand leeching stuff, such as silicates or carbonates.

I believe that Este's sells a purple sand. Try your lfs and if they don't have it see if they can order it. Not all sands are ok in your tank as czcz pointed out.

despite what the box says, i never put in a lb per gal for gravel, the the food and fish waste, gets burried 3" deep...but then again i dont have an undergravel filter
