So i just started putting plants in the 55 gallon tank and i figured broken pieces of terracotta would be perfect for a java fern. So i went to home depot and got what i think is it but when i broke it it seems to have a grey core. Is that normal? When it rung up it said it was terracotta so idk.

Could you give me any advise

Thanks

I have never seen a gray core in a terra cotta pot, and I have broken a few in my time. Just being described as terracotta on a receipt does not mean that it is real terracotta...that could be a very loosely used term, or just a description of the color.

Can you post a pic of this item?

I have a few with a gray core in my cichlid tank, they've been in there over a year and I've had no problem with them. I soaked them overnight just to be safe.
