I've had a planted 20 gallon up and running for about a year now and am thinking of doing some rearranging. It is a heavily planted tank with EcoComplete substrate. If I decide to redo this tank, do I rinse the EcoComplete (like one would with gravel) or just do a good vacuuming of it after pulling up the plants? My fish and shrimp would have to go in a tote for a day.

I don't think it makes much of a difference. The advantage that Ecocomplete claims comes from the material it's made up of. There's no coating that you can wash away.

Wash it, vacuum it, or boil it, it is still basalt.
