i have a old reptile light with a zoo-med 60 watt heat lamp it has an awsome lighting effect on the tank but is it safe for fish?

Also, some reptile bulbs have very high UVA and UVB output...might want to look at your bulb. I don't know if the UV output would be enough to bother the fish or not.

hockeydude, loganj is right.

The reptile bulbs I use for my turtles emit high UVA and UVB rays. But I'm not actually positive if this would harm the fish or not? None less, they put out an insane amount of heat as well, so that might be something that you wanna look in to also.

And since reptile bulbs cost so darn much, I'd just stick to aquarium bulbs, much more efficient in my opinion 8)
