Ok I have a 29 gal FW setup that has been runnign for sometime now. over a year. I recently added a snail now i have thousands of snails in my tank is this a problem? I will tell you my algae problem is now nil. But what baout my other critters is this going to hurt them?

Snails wont hurt fish, they may eat your live plants though. There are many ways to remove them, but the best IMO is sticking a piece of lettuce in the tank for a few hours, and when all the snails gather on it, take it out. Do this every day for a week and you should get rid of most of the snails. Another option is to pick up some loaches to eat the snails. Yoyo loaches or zebra loaches would be a good choice
