Small solo Algae eater?

Really a bit of polyfiber and some elbow grease is your best bet in that size aquarium. Many of the fish that are recommended for an algae crew really aren't appropriate in that small of an aquarium. Some of the small hitchhiker snails might work though. Like the small ramshorns.
 
go for amano shrimp. they dont get too big and love algae.
 
otos, get 4 because 1 will probably not make it... but if you dont have plants get a BN pleco.
 
It is a five-gallon tank with neons already in it. Neither a bristlenose pleco nor multiple otos could be kept humanely in such a small tank. I echo the recommendations for snails or shrimp .
