My black ghost knife fish is 8-9 inches long and in a week or so I'll be moving him into my 300 gallon tank. How can I successfully move him without hurting him? The nets I have are pretty small...also will be moving a rhino pleco to the same tank that's about 7-8 inches.

I use a clean pillow case to move large fish that could be hurt cramming into a small net. You won't need to "bag him" if you can just wrap it up in the outside of the case. Fold it over if it is too big.

At 9" it may not be an issue, but be cognizant of a large, strong fish's ability to thrash. If it begins thrashing it may hurt itself, so be patient. Once the fish exhausts itself, it's your opportunity to move.

I didn't even think of a pillow case...a really good idea! Thank you!

We ended up using the strainer idea and all fish made it safely! Thanks for the ideas!
