White Gourami

Hi, I bought a white gourami from my local fish store last saturday after 3 weeks of deciding whether or not to get one or not. He is in a 2 foot tank with a 5.5" bristlenose plec, 2 albino corys, 5 red eye tetras and 7 neon tetras. I had a lot of conflicting opinions on whether he would or wouldnt get on with the smaller fish, but he's not bothered them and vice versa. However he's now not letting anyone swim on "his side of the tank" which is where the heater is, but is quite happy to swim with the others in the rest of the tank. Is this territory or?

Yes, that sounds like he's established a territory and isn't allowing other fish to enter it.

Okay, thanks. He's absoloubtly fine swimming with them but just won't let them into that patch when he's there, he darts towards them, but doesn't chase or anything like that. He's really shy too, that doesn't help
