I’ve had my pleco for two weeks in an established tank with 4 cardinal tetra , 2 ghost shrimp and 2 African shrimp, plants and bark .
He/she cleaned up the algae on the tank and wispy algae adhering to plants . After a week I added a Plec wafer as I was concerned about nutrition . It disappeared but partly left a white deposit which I cleared by a water change . Water testing in safe parameters and it’s a cycled tank . No ammonia spike etc.
at a loss to understand where my pleco has gone - no sighting at all ( or flurries of substrate etc) and algae again forming in tank sides . No sign of a floating little corpse or an ill fish . Other fish and shrimp healthy and active .
Any advice please ?

Plecos are naturally nocturnal and also very good hiders. I know of people who have gone months at a time with no sighting of their plecos and suddenly it reappears. Could just be hiding.

Are you seeing the food you are leaving being eaten overnight?
