Zeosand substrate

i went to a pool store and bought a bag of pool filter sand and it says "Zeosand" on it

ZeoSand: Zeolite Sand Replacement for Swimming Pool Filters

it's a dark grey color. ( i wanted darker sand to use for my puffer tank)

i've read that it would be ok to use. just wondering if anyone here has had experience with it?

Aquarium Filter and Fish Tank Filtration It's better as filter media than as a substrate even then the side effects of this stuff aren't worth it to use as filter media. You want the inert type. Mine on the back talks about how it's "ecologically safe".

NSF/ANSI-50 Approved for use in all Sand Filters

However, I think they mean in regards to filtration for large aquariums. I'm not sure how it would work as a substrate. As long as it is inert you should be fine.

i cleaned it very well today. pretty much took out all of the dust and lighter sand that floats.
