Crayfish changing color

My crayfish just molted and he use to be redish now he's a dark purple almost the same color as the gravel. This is his first time molting. I've had him for about 2 months. Why did he change colors

Crayfish will often exhibit a change in color in successive molts seemingly to try and match the color of the substrate. A gradual change to a blue color is not uncommon for red/brown crayfish in an aquarium setting. Don't worry, he is probably just as healthy as before.
