Bio Balls

They came in my Biocube, should I toss them and put in some LR or just leave them in to do their job?

Also I've read that they are pretty bad to have. Are there any glaring issues not to have them?

I have them in one of my compartments of my fuge and as soon as I get a chance I`m going to replace with LR rubble. I think the complaint is that they trap alot of waste thus causing higher nitrates in the tank. BTW welcome to AA

LR rubble is a lot more porous and therefore home to more beneficial bacteria. Ditch the bioballs
