Airation is done by surface aggitation. Alot of people dont do bubbles because of the salt creep that will form at the rim of the tank. The only airation you are getting is the bubbles rising up and aggitating the surface. Alot of people dont use bubbles and use ph`s pointed to the surface. This will give you more airation in your tank by far IMO.
