Simple concept. Not everyone's lights are the same. After a while a coral's pigmentation will be accustomed to a type of lighting. When you introduce it into your system, your lights may produce different wavelengths and various properties than it has been adjusted to. Here's a very basic explanation by LiveAquaria:
