if i got a 175 mh on my 33gal would i be able to keep just about anything? i know it might sound stupid but i really wana know.

Yes for the most part you should be able to keep about anything you want.

On a 33g tank I would suggest a single 250w It will be a bit stronger to penetrate thru the deep tank... For the extremely small price difference its an upgrade that I would not think twice about.. An extremely good and Cheap but high quality bulb would be the XM 10k bulb they are about 65.00ea and are IMO one of the best bulbs out there.. Here is a lighting comparrison page.. lighting
