live rock

I would like to add more live rock to my cycled tank, but don't want the ammonia spike from die off. Was thinking about starting a quarantine tank of 20 gal with bare bottom. How long would the rock need to be in there before it is ready to go into display tank?

Is there a way to transport the live rock in buckets of water? You could add it immediately...

If it's un-cycled, you'll have to cycle it. It could take the same time it took to cycle your display. It would entirely depend on how much die off is on this new rock.
