is it common to have some live rock die off while cycling your tank. Mine is just about cycled but some of my rock has turned white in color especially around the edges. Is this common. should i do a partial water change? There is not much that is white but some of it is.

Thanks

It is common, once the coraline is out of the water for a period of time it will bleach out and die and then you will see the white of the rock show up. Nothing to worry about.

Keep testing your water and when you have 0 ammonia and 0 NitrItes and a spike in nitrates then do your large PWC.

Your rock will color back up.

Yup no worries, I had some die off but it grew back over time, just like Ziggy said it will die off once it's expose out of the water for a long period of time....
