After months of reading and asking questions, I finally got my 30 gallon FOWLR started. I have 30 lbs of sand, 33 lbs of live rock.
Tank was started Dec 29th with the following perameters.

Salt level started at 1.024 and as of today it has dropped slightly to 1.022
phospates.25
calcium came up light pink
nitrate started at 5 and has dropped slightly to between 4-5
nitrite started at 0 and now is 0.3
ammonia started at 6.1 and is unchanged so far
ph high is 7.9
ph low is 7.6
kh is 20
gh is 20
iron is 0.0
temp is staying steady at 78
I used ro water.

Now I have to wait and see where everything goes.
I know there is a long way to go but think the tank is starting to do what it is suppossed to. I am seeing a couple of hair like filiments growing on a couple of the rocks.
Slow and steady wins the race and thats what I am intending to do.

As you are cycling, consider investing in an auto top off system. Its very important to keep stable salinity level. IMHO its a must have for every for long-term success with this tank. It wont be long until you get tired of constantly top every single day.
