I just got "new to me" 54gal cube tank and want to transfer all my water and sand from my existing 33gal tank. Of course this will mean adding new saltwater to the tank too....kinda seems like a water change hehehe. The question is should I rinse the sand before putting it in my new taNK. At the moment I do have brown algae and light green hair algae on my sand bed and I'm pretty much out of my inital cycle period.

Any suggestions or tip...or just go for it and everything will be OK.

NO do not rinse the sand, that is where your bacteria lives. As far as the brown stuff, are you using tap water?

stitching from a 33 to a 54 will probably require more sand. If you have acess to live sand ( noth the bagged junk from lfs) I would make up the difference with that. If not then rinse the new sand, but not the existing sand.
