test kit question

I have a API test kit for my fresh water tanks. Can I use this kit to test the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates when I cycle my salt tank or are the chemicals different in a salt test kit because it's salt water...

it is different and wont be accurate, you'll need a saltwater test kit

They will work, but the colors will be off and hard to tell what the reading actually is.

Most single api test kits will do both fresh or saltwater though i don't care that much for api I find that their not all that accurate.
