We are just getting ready to start a new 80 gal system. The question is when can or when should we add detritivores and micro-invertebrates. Can they be added with we add live rock or wait until the tank has cycled? Planning on purchasing live sand activator from Indo Pacific Sea Farm.

Thanks

I'd wait till the ammonia/nitrite had dropped before adding the clean up crew. I'm sure they could stand a low concentration, but I think they might die off from the concentrations normally encountered while cycling a tank. JMHO.

Thanks for your reply. There is a lot of information out there on fish but it seems that the world of Inverts and tank clean-up crews is somewhat limited. Even IPSF and Inland Aquatics do not have much information on their web sites in understanding how these micro animals live and what there need are.
