when to run protein skimmer

my tank has been setup for 10 days or so and i havent setup my skimmer yet i think i read somewhere you should wait for a few weeks is this correct? or is it supposed to setup when you first setup ur tank

I ran mine while i was cycling only because it takes a few weeks to break in the one I have. I can;t see any harm in setting it up now.

I agree that you should go ahead and start it up now. Go ahead and knock out the break in period.

what about the lights do you recommend running the lights too?

If you are just cycling the tank you dont need the lights.

don't run the lights. you'll just fuel an algae bloom.
