From what I have read in all of the helpful articles written here and in other places, when the nitrites fall they fall pretty fast....how fast is fast? within a 24 hour period, a 12 hour period or less? My nitrites have been high for about 5 days now. My ammonia is running around 1 and the last time I checked my nitrates they were around 10. So, it is the nitrites I am waiting for to drop.....patience, I know patience.

I just looked back at my aquarium log from the last time I cycled an aquarium. Looks like it dropped from 10ppm Nitrite to 0 over 4 days after remaining at 10pm Nitrite for a week and a half. There was another spike the next day, but then quickly dropped back to 0 during the same day. This is why you want to have a few days in a row where both the Ammonia and Nitrite are 0 with the Nitrates rising.
