I'm sort of a newbie and I'd prefer clean, hardy fish... fish that are the prettiest relative to how easy they are to take care of.
Tank size will probably be 10g.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

You could go dwarf powder blue gouarmi with some neons maybe pygmy cories and some oto's...(its what i had for a while)

you could also look into having a few platys or fancy guppys(pretty cool fish)

How many gouramis? How long did that setup last? lol
(Thanks!)

You can probably only put one, possibly two, dwarf gouramis in a 10g. It's hard to go wrong with live bearers when you're looking for cheap, hardy, and colorful. Get a tank full of male guppies. If you only get one sex of livebearers, you probably won't be overrun with fry. Many times, females come from the store pregnant, so no guarantees.

I have a 10g freshwater tank where three glow fish and two red wags live. If I were setting up a 10g now, I'd choose fancy guppies. They are hardy and beautiful. If I lose any of my critters, I'm going to replace them with fancy guppies.

How many guppies?
Will the males get aggressive with each other?

Also- neon tetras are another viable option, no?
