starting a 10Gal in the office. sand bubbles?

The little bugger decided to stop scrubbing and take a quick brake in a spot where I can take a picture. Looks like Otto to me...

It looks different than the ottos I've seen and owned, but I do see the stripe in that picture!
 
Things grew quite a bit since last October. Co-workers love it.

Thanks for asking, no longer sure what it is really. It grew somewhat and the stripe now shows pronounced "checker boarding" . ID and opinions welcome.

Yea definitely not an Otto. Looks like possibly a Chinese algae eater :/
 
It does indeed have some resemblance . in any case I think I will be rehoming current occupants and populate the tank with fish better suited for 10Gal.
 
Yep, that's a chinese algae eater. They turn into slime coat eaters as they mature, so I'd definitely rehome them.

When picking out new fish for the 10g, try plugging things into aqadvisor.com for a quick ballpark evaluation. It's not perfect by any means, but if you temper it with your own research and experience it does pretty well. Far better than just going off the little info cards at the fish store!
