Usually, you can just wait it out. As the bacteria consumes the nutrients in the water, it will die off. I did have a 55 FW with a bacteria bloom that just wouldn't go away though...I ended up putting a UV sterilizer on it for 24 hrs and haven't had a problem since.
I was told that you can use a diatom filter to remove this type algae. But you will still be left with the excess nutrients which is the cause of the problem. So it may come back.
