Other signs of parasites??

What other signs can I watch for parasites. I recently lost my goby not realizing that he had parasites b/c he was such a light colored fish. Poor guy when I finally saw them and I dipped him he was JUST COVERED. It was horrible. I felt terrible. Anyways, he was so light I never saw them. What else could I look for what. What finally made me realize he had parasites was something I had read about keeping his fins erect, but by then it was so bad!!! So any other tips. I never saw him scracth either.

I would just examine your fish once a week, just get a good look at them and you will see little dots on them. Also get a few cleaner shrimp.

Thanks... I actually can not get a cleaner b/c I have a porc puffer... I wish I could though b/c I have seen them really help.
