I have a 36 gallon tank with 3 platies, 5 neon tetras, 2 Cory cats, 3 ghost shrimp and 2 dwarf Gouramis. This is my first tank ever so I didn’t realize something could be wrong if they have white stringy poop. They’ve all always pooped like that so I assumed it was normal. Now I’ve read that it could mean they have internal parasites. Besides the poop, they seem very healthy. They all eat great, don’t spit it out and look and swim like normal fish. What should I do? Treat the tank just in case? If so, what do I use?

Hello Tig...

You can gradually increase the amount of your weekly water change. Gradually work up to the point you remve and replace at least half the tank water every week. Add a bit of standard aquarium salt to the new, treated tap water. I use a healthy teaspoon in every five gallons of water change water. Parasites won't be able to live and reproduce in pure water with a trace of salt.
