I have just found what i suspect to be ich on one of my fish but don't know how to treat it as i have a crab and three apple snails in my tank. Can anyone recommend anything please?

Turn the heat up slowly to 86 F. A degree every 6 hours if you feel the ich is bad enough, a degree every 12 hours if it is just starting. Increase the aeration in the tank by adding an airstone or lowering the water level a bit. Keep the temp up for 2 weeks after the last ich spot is gone.

Meds are better at emptying your wallet and killing your fish and inverts than they are at killing ich. Zagz is spot on with his suggestion. You can also add a little salt. There is an article about the heat & salt treatment in the articles section. 86 F is the minimum; I shoot for 88. The only reason not to use the heat treatment is if you have heat intolerant fish like goldfish.
