I need help with Velvet, help

Hi ppl I have a few fish that appear gold like around the gill area, but im not sure if its velvet or normal I will try and provide a picture.

my guppy has a gold area around the gill area. its not sprinkled though as described on websites/books its like a small gold coating . is this normal or is it velvet or another disease.

I'm a SW guy, but it could very well be velvet. Read this... Fish Velvet - Tropical Fish Diseases

It does exhibit first in the gill area, like you're seeing. I had an outbreak years ago in my SW tank. It kills very fast too.

Also, remember that velvet is a parasite, NOT a fungus, so if you think it is velvet, you need to treat accordingly.
Velvet is easiest to see by shining a flashlight down the side of the fish.
