Aquarium Advice FINatic
I noticed one of my Labs had a sore on the side of it's body....behind the gills. I somehow manage to catch the sick fish and put him into my QT the other day. I started treating with Melafix/Pimafix combo. He looked a little better yesterday, but took a turn for the worse today. I just got back in the house and found him dead.
I was able to take some pics earlier when the fish was still alive.
The bad news is that I just noticed that another one of the labs has a similar sore in the exact same spot. I don't think it's a coincedence. I haven't been able to catch this fish and now I'm starting to worry about this possibly being contagious. None of the other fish have shown any signs of being sick. Maybe it was a bite wound. The tank is pretty peace other than some mild conspecific aggression among the other species, but none amongst the Labs. I have 4 Mainganos, 3 Albino Socolofi, 5 Red Zebras, and now 7 Yellow Labs, 2 Synos. Tank size is 55G with a decent amount of rock. Water params are perfect (0/0/10) with weekly 25-30% water changes. PH 8.0, 12dKH, 15dGH. Have had no other problems since the tank has been set up. This is my first loss...Here are the pics:
