setting up hospital tank?????

i was just wondering about setting up hospital tank.....should i set it up and cycle it....if so how do i keep it cycled...i have a 2.5gal tank just got from a garage sale and want to set it up for this purpose any help will be appericated

Cycling is unnecessary since most meds kill the bacteria in the filter. Frequent water changes are a must when dealing with ill fish and that gets rid of ammonia.

ok thank you....guess i will just fill as needed to treat fish....hard to have an mt aquarium sitting around though

some people use biospira/biowheels for keeping the tank kinda cycled while the fish is being treated. but if the medicine kills the bacteria wuts the point?

i thought this up about a month ago why not just use the ammo chips?

i am going to treat a betta for ick and have started by treating him with quick cure...but after reading some other posts am going to try the warm water treatment in qt tank...hope he pulls through hes my wifes fav fish
