Right im stumped.

My friend has two angel fish in her tank. One has just developed a white spot on its side, just below the dorsal fin. I havent seen this myself and have been trying to diagnose with the following description:-

Its a whtie spot approx 5mm in diameter, just below the dorsal fin, it looks like someones "snotted" on the fish. You can still see the scales underneath and its fins are not clamped and it seems happy.

i advised to quarintine the fish.........but cant seem to find anything to match that great descrip lol

can anyone help???

thanks

Hard to help out a third party, but let's try.
First, look through these sites:
http://www.aquatronicsonline.com/hobbyist/hobbyist3.htm
http://www.aqualink.com/disease/sdisease.html#ich
http://fish.mongabay.com/diseases.htm
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/AqBizSubWebIndex/fishdisho.htm
http://www.fishpondinfo.com/health.htm

Then answer these Qs:
~What are your tank parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temp)?
~ How large is the tank?
~How many fish are in the tank? What kinds of fish are they and what are there current sizes?
~When is the last time you did a water change and vacuum the gravel? How often do you do this? How much water do you remove at a time?
~How long have you had the fish?
~Have you added anything new to the tank--decor, new dechlor, new substrate, etc.?

It sounds like some sort of parasite. Add a little bit of aquarium salt and get multipurpose parasite meds.

It may be fish louse. its a parasite that attaches to the fish. If it is fish louse, u should be able to remove it with a small pair of tweezers. Also if it is fish louse, u will need to completely empty the tank, including substrate and decorations and start over.
