Need ID for Coral

Can someone please ID this coral.

looks like small sarcophyton. toadstool leather

Thanks, I think thats what it was called at the LFS. I just couldn't remember.

I have had this for a few weeks, but recently the polyps have retracted into the stalks and occasionally protrude a little. I don't think they have died. Does anyone know why they have retracted? It seems this happened round about the same time as when I changed my skimmer. All the water parameters are same as before. My other polyps are do fine.

it is probably going to shed. i have a pretty good sized toadstool that sheds about every 10 days. it will become glossy looking and then skin will start to shed. good flow will help the process

Why does it shed and whats the purpose behind it?

Yup def a type of toadstool, not sure why it sheds tho!
