Snail ID?

Can some tel me if this snail is safe.. nothing has been added to my tank in months and this is the first time I see this snail in there. No idea where it came from.

A bit hard to tell from the picture. Maybe a whelk or a nassarius snail. Is the flesh one color or does it look like a tribal tattoo pattern?

Hard to tell both those snails are very similar.. I couldn't really see its body... Is the whelk snail even reef safe?

no. Whelks are generally not reef safe. Some eat other snails, some eat corals...

I see.. probably best I take it out.. Cant really tell between the two

If you can't tell, then yes, remove it. Whelks are predators.

Do you have a sump? Put it in there if so. He'll cause no harm there.

From the new pics, the flesh looks like a whelk. Definitely move him to the sump or get rid of it.
