I haven't done this for a great many years, so I need a refresher on how to get started. Also, I found out at the petstore that much has changed in the last 20+ years in regard to how to care for a fishtank.
I used to have African cichlids in a brackish tank, but never tested the water much for anything. Rarely did I ever have a floater though, and my fish thrived and some even reproduced.
I'm thinking though about doing tropical, but not really sure who can go with who. I love puffers, but don't know who I can put with them. I like neons, fancy guppies (though I hear they are very delicate?), and any number of other fish. Just not sure which direction to take. Are there any threads on this site that advise on how to get started? I'm assuming that I need to know what kind of fish I want before I can really do much else? I feel like a total novice now.
Anyway, here's the tank, on a stand my husband created. It's a 55 gallon.
