Aquaclear Protien Skimmer

So like a lot of others I have many airpumps and aqua-clear HOB filters lying around. My mind has been going for a bit, and I am getting close to a diagram I think would convert the AC70 into a protein skimmer, that would at least function for a small nano tank. Has anybody else thought of this/tried this? I am probably gonna try it regardless, but it would be get some ideas/opinions.

OK so here is the picture I drew up, it isn't super accurate but it should give you an idea of what I am thinking, do you think it will work?

Basically what I am thinking is water enters the top of the chamber, passes the airstone, and exits the bottom. All of this will be slightly lower than the top of the filter to make sure that there are no spills. Love to hear what everybody thinks.
