this is my diy project. i am ready to add water this is a fo tank 120g my lfs told me for fish only i could use tap water if i declorniate it water is this right or do i need to use ro water?

The tap water may contain excess nutrients (phosphates nitrates, silicates etc). All this will cause problems in the tank with excess algea. The nitrates will build up and will harm your fish at higher levels.

i did the tap water with dechlorinator in my first tank (75gal) I had cyano problems. Now i use ro/di water and no problems.

So..........you can do it, but I don't recommend it. Get RO water
