looking to make a light stand,to hang a 48 inch florescent light from over my 55 gal tank. any help would be nice.

Do you have the light already and are wanting to mount it, or are you looking for suggestions on lights? If so, can you provide some background on your tank (sw/fw, planted/coral, etc etc)

You can try what I did. I used the metal shelving that you would use in a closet. I attached a picture that you can kind of see it. i have a better pic I will post where when I find it.

Thats a pretty good idea. You probably could have just hung it off the things that hold the shelf for a cleaner look.

I use the shelf for my scraper and my tongs usually, but yea i probably could have used the posts to hang it.
