I think his tank might be a bit cramped. I would have gone for bettas myself. Overall one of the better mods I have ssen, esp for a beginner

Damn!!

Look at the price tag!! I could buy one heck of a tank with $700+.

Pretty darn cool though.

I have a dead 21" CRT that I have been saving, with an aquarium in mind...

Maybe one of these days I'll crack it open and get to work.

Maybe a 21" nano reef!!!

(Oh actually that's 20" viewable nano)

Hmm... pair that up with a hollowed out ATX tower for a sump....

hehe

thats a good question man.....

OK... remove the circuitboard and tube and all that junk and then calculate:

I think 21" old crt weighs about 60lbs so, 55lbs of thats tube, wiring, boards.

plastic shell = 5lbs

new tank glass (flat screen of course) :D and water est 8 gallon capacity plus other stuff, minus rocks water would be approx 6 gals, 6x8=48 plus glass est 10lbs plus rock/sand maybe 40lbs?

Sooo.. probably around 100 lbs?

Hehe... the stand would probably do it but might be not that trustable.

A reinforced stand would be in order huh!

Good point.......

Water weight is 8lbs per gal.

Yes, I subtracted 2 gallons because of substrate/live rock. 8 gal cap but -2gal worth of substrate/LR=6X8 = 6 gallons times 8lbs.

I shoulda clarified better in my scribbles hehe :D

True but then you have the weight of the substrate and rock that IMO is going to equil more than the 2lbs per gal allowance for those items.

I allowed 40lbs for the 2gals (displacement) worth of substrate and rock per my formula sir.

-rock/sand maybe 40lbs?-

Ah. I missed that.

Anyway it would be cool to do. Wo8uld be like a bigger version of the macquarium's where they take the 6" macintosh screens and make them aqauriums.

:D Oh yah I know the ones you mean FF

I am looking forward to the project.

I think I will remove the power cord so nobody plugs it in, though.
