Hi Everyone,

I went looking for gravel today.
I thought that Black gravel might look nicer then the natural color.
Went into a fish store came out more questions then when i went in.
Seachem products Flourite or Flourite Black also Flourite Black sand or Onyx Sand?
Went from have 2 choices now to 6.

Is anyone using any of these?
What do you think please let me know.

Thank you,
Brian

I have Flourite black in my tanks. It's ok.

Flourite Black and Regular Fluorite are essentially the same. Fluorite Black Sand is also pretty much the same, except it's obviously much finer. All three of them are good plant substrates. Onyx Sand is also a clay based substrate like the other four, but it contains carbonates, which will raise your tanks pH and may or may not be good for plant root structures.

Gravel is not as good as any of the aforementioned Seachem products, but will be fine provided you have root tabs. All the seachem substrates should have root tabs as well.

I bought 1 15 pound bag of Regular Fluorite

I bought 1 15 pound bag of Regular Fluorite
Washed it in a 5 gallon bucket outside with a hose for over 1 hour
at first the water was dark like chocolate milk.
My hands and arms are tired from washing it.
Still kind of dirty looking.
I hope that when the water runs clean it hasn't washed off all of the minerals.

When the water looks clean I will mix it with other gravel

Thank you.:thanks:
