Has anyone ever grown banana plants? I saw one at the LFS and found it intriguing. Are there any specifics I should know about this plant's needs? Thanks.

Stick it in the substrate and watch it grow. Mine had a little die off when I first put it in, now there's lots of roots and new leaves growing.

This is what it looks like

They are interesting. I heard you can propagate them through pinching a leaf off, floating it, then planting it when it takes root. I will have tons of them.

I have a few of these plants, and they shoot those lily pads up in no time at all, the stem grows several inches a day and can get several feet long!

I've heard that if you propagate them by cutting the leaves that they will create separate plants but they don't have the 'bananas' on them.
