My Java Moss has been growing pretty quickly, but the color has slowly changed. It was dark green when I got it, but is now a much lighter green. Also, some of the moss under the course tulle netting has turned almost a transparent-brown color and some of the outward growing "stems" are nearly reddish.:ermm: However, it's growing pretty quick given less than 3 weeks, and there are tons of bright green buds of new growth at the tips (both outward fronds past the tulle, and under it as well).

pH: Upper 7's. Hard to tell with API, but guessing 7.8ish
Ammonia: 0-.25
Nitrite: 0-.25
Nitrate: 20-40
GH & KH: unknown
Tap water: 0/0/0 but don't need a test to tell it has high iron and calcium

Lighting: 24" LED Finnex Planted+. Got this only 8 days ago and that is when I really saw the new growth take off. Prior light was a cheap single tube. On maybe 5 hours in the evening, but don't have a timer yet. Rest of the day the room is lit by low-medium sunlight , but tank is not in direct light. Sometimes moonlights at night. Zero algae since day 1

Tankmates:
7 red-eye tetras
3 neon tetras
3 gold mystery snails
2 white mollies
1 small pleco

When I first got it. Abandoned this set up, pleco and snails wrecked it.

Newest to oldest, oldest (pictured above) being about 19 days growth. Ignore poop, already got it ;)

Java moss is easy to care for. Just ferts whatever u use for ur other plants

If you're seeing new green growth I wouldn't worry. Ifs it's just the older growth going transparent, i would tend to think the moss was just acclimating to a new tank.

I have no other live plants and use no ferts

Yeah, that's what I was thinking in regards to the new growth

I have a shrimp tank with stem and rooted plants and moss. I feed the rooted plants root pellets. Stem plants and moss do not get any ferts aside from whatever leaches from the Eco complete substrate. Both are growing fine. Low bioload (20-40 shrimp only). Lighting is a dual T5 normal output (low).
