Have you seen catapa trees in your area, where are you

catapa = ketapang = Terminalia catappa = indian almond

No, I finished college 2 years ago. I live in Muncie though. Which specie of Terminalia sp are you talking about?
I researched about Terminalia catappa and it requires 365 days frost free.

I ment if you have it in your area its likely here, because we are in a similar temperate zone.

I think maybe a mixup between two different trees. Greenmaji is most likely thinking about about the Catalpa speciosa, often thought of by anglers for those "tasty" little catipillars (catalpa sphinx moth) versus the catapa whose leaves are used for bettas, catfish, and black water tetras.

I finally will be able to explain to my father in law, the tree in his yard it is not catapa, but catalpa
