I was using AqAdvisor to determine my tank's stocked status. I was wondering if the filter capacity isn't as important if the tank is well planted.

Yes, the filter capacity is of less importance because the plants help with the biological filtration. On the other hand, i still like to keep a good mechanical filtration going to help with the water clarity.

I don't care for aqadvisor because its just an internet guide; it has no idea what your water is like and its true condition. Filter capacity is important because it helps keep the tank balanced. Sure plants definitely help clear water using up nutrients but its difficult to pinpoint exactly how much. I would recommend stocking your tank with a properly size filter as this will help remove detrius from the tank and keep your biological portion stable.

I agree with Mohican, my 220g 100% planted still has 4- Fluval 406's running on it.
