Currently, I have my lights come on at 6:30, go off from 10:30-2:00pm and back on till 9pm. I set the midday resting period as advised to fight the algae problem I had before pressurized Co2.

Is there a definitive advantage to this schedule or should I just leave them on if I don't have algae problems?

I tried the lighting gap for a while and I don't think it made a bit of difference. I think you are better of with a straight 8 to 10 hour lighting period. I run mine from 2 to 12 that way they are on the whole time I am up after work.

I believe that the mid-day rest period for lighting has been debunked... Rich is right, 10 hours straight should be fine. Reduce to 8 if you have trouble with Green Spot Algae, etc.
